In my continuing effort to improve my overall fitness and health, I will be starting a TRX Urbanathlon program. I am excited to begin this program coinciding with Rex’s Maintain Don’t Gain program. I first encountered TRX Urbanathlon training early last year through one of my coworkers. It was a 4 week comprehensive strength training and running program intended to get its participants into racing shape. At the time, I had no intention of doing any type of race but I thought it looked like fun and I wanted something new for my fitness regimen. So we began and I had a great time. It kept me motivated and it put me on a schedule. After 4 weeks, I felt stronger, faster, and healthier. After doing a bit more research, my coworker and I found a couple more urbanathlon workouts. Another 4 week regimen and an 8-week regimen. I have decided to begin the 8 week training which will begin on November 9th and finish up on January 3rd; just in time to get my final weigh in for Maintain Don’t Gain.
The workouts are simple and they incorporate specific TRX exercises on alternating days with specific running workouts. As most of my friends and clients can attest to, I am not a huge fan of running. However, the running usually involves intervals which makes it much more enjoyable for me. Throughout the process, I will keep a log of my progress including weigh ins, run times, and RPE’s (rates of perceived exertion). I will continue to focus on my diet as a key aspect of my health and wellness. I will continue to minimize (as much as possible) refined sugar, alcohol, and processed foods. My goal for the end of the year is to be leaner, stronger, and healthier.
My workouts will be in addition to the classes that I am already teaching and the Krav Maga classes that I have every intention of continuing. My goal last week was to get to 1 Krav Maga class and I was able to attend 3, so I am thrilled. Next week, I will continue on that pattern attending 2 classes Tuesday, one class Wednesday, one class Thursday and hopefully 1-2 classes on Sunday. My TRX urbanathlon training will have me doing something every single day this week so I have been very careful to try to figure out where I can fit my workouts in. Please check in next week for updates on my progress. For additional information, please email me directly.
