As we inch closer to Christmas and the New Year, things can start getting really hectic and stressful! It’s really easy to get overwhelmed with work, family, travel, and everything in between. If you are struggling with stress and need a minute to reset, follow these 5 easy steps to reduce stress through your breath using the 4 7 8 method.
Step 1:
Find a quiet place where you can sit and be still. Allow your eyes to close or you gaze to soften. Relax the muscles in your face and unclench your jaw.
Step 2:
Gently breathe in through your nose for a count of 4
Step 3:
Hold your breath at the top of your inhale for a count of 7
Step 4:
Exhale through your mouth for a count of 8
Step 5:
Repeat 3 more times or more.
This breathing technique is not only good for reducing stress but may also help you fall asleep at night.
It only takes a few minutes but these few minutes can help get you back into a positive and peaceful frame of mind. It will help you embrace the chaos of the holidays and find the joy in all of it.
