ICryo Recovery & Wellness
As a fitness professional, training is really important. However, we don’t spend enough time talking about recovery. Recovery is where the real gains are made and it’s also critical in helping you feel your best!
I was really intimidated the first time I checked out the website for ICryo. There’s a lot of services to choose from and you can go for one or more activities. After speaking with the concierge on the phone, she helped me make the right decision for what we were looking for. We were all set for a Sunday morning Whole Body Cryotherapy and Compression Therapy.
What to Expect?
Upon arrival, expect to be greeted by friendly faces and warm welcoming smiles. The staff at ICryo really is amazing. We were offered a complimentary tour as first time guests. This gave us an opportunity to learn about everything that they had to offer. RJ, our tour guide, offered us coffee, tea, or other beverages to sip on throughout our visit. We were ready for our first service: Whole Body Cryotherapy.
We were given a sports bra, short shorts, socks, gloves, slippers, and a facemask. The cryotherapy is quick: 3 minutes. It’s a small room which you can share with a friend (highly recommended as it makes it less scary). They provide a speaker which allows a distraction from how damn cold you are!
The whole body cryotherapy chamber is -160 degrees F and it’s COOOOOOLD!!! Expect to have frost on your hair, eyelashes, eyebrows and arm hair! Expect to be cold, very cold. They give you a speaker to play a good song that helps the time go by quicker (we chose “Sexy Back” but Justin Timberlake!). You are able to see only slightly out the door but enough to see the timer. I have the say, the anticipation is BY FAR, the worst part. The actual cryotherapy isn’t bad at all. My skin temperature was 87 before entering the chamber and 50 on the way out and I felt it. The skin on my legs and arms was pretty much numb by the end of the session. It was, however, extremely rejuvenating!
Next up…Compression Therapy! You have the option for legs, arms, or hips. The session lasts 30 minutes and you can choose to do one or all of the locations. You can do arms and hips, legs and arms at the same time but not hips and legs as the sleeves overlap. We chose legs. The boots offer up to 200 foot pounds of pressure but they will start you at 150 which was MORE than enough. The first time the boots inflate, it does feel like your limbs are going to explode but after awhile you get used to it. It’s like a deep tissue massage, hurts so good!
While we were only able to do 2 of the services, we purchased a package so we can go back and try another service. We were recommended doing the Infrared Sauna followed by the cryotherapy so that will be our next adventure!
I can’t wait to see how it feels throughout the week!
What Are the Services?

Whole Body Cryotherapy
Whole Body Cryotherapy is a non-invasive therapy that triggers the body’s natural fight or flight response to accelerate recovery and decrease inflammation throughout the body. After just 2-3 minutes of exposure to the extreme cold (3 minutes max), you will notice a boost in energy, relief of muscle and/or joint pain, and many other positive benefits.
PBM Red Light Therapy
The primary mechanism of the TheraLight 360 is photobiomodulation (PBM), which uses carefully calibrated infrared light waves to “bathe” the body with therapeutic light, stimulating cell regeneration and enhancing tissue repair.
IV Infusion
IV Therapy is the #1 way to ENERGIZE your body with electrolytes, minerals, and vitamins. IV Hydration is the key to keeping your body performing at its highest level.
Infrared Sauna
Infrared heat is the invisible part of the sun’s spectrum, which allows people to harness the benefits of the sun without being exposed to harmful ultraviolet rays. Infrared light also comes in several forms, Near, Mid, and Far-Infrared. The perceived heat of the sun is on the Far-Infrared form, which is the same we use in our sauna, further, similarly to our PBM therapy, our sauna is able to offer unique wellness perks that together provide a holistic approach to a better mind and body. Also, infrared therapy within each iCRYO infrared sauna is safe and effective, without adverse side effects. As a matter of fact, infrared light is safe and is used even for infants in neonatal intensive care.
Compression Therapy
Our systems include a control unit and attachments which go on the legs, arms, or hips. They use compressed air to massage your limbs, mobilize fluid, and speed recovery. Similar to the kneading and stroking during a massage, each attachment segment will first compress in a pulsing manner and then release. This will repeat for each attachment segment as the compression pattern works its way up to your limb. Veins and lymphatic vessels have one-way valves that prevent fluid backflow. Similarly, our compression technology uses hold pressures to keep fluids from being forced in the wrong direction.
