Top 5 Things to Expect on a Wellness Retreat

Thinking about booking a wellness retreat?  I sometimes forget how scary and intimidating it could be to book a wellness retreat for the first time.  There are so many unknowns, so many questions, and few details.  Here I will lay out for you the TOP 5 things to expect on a wellness retreat with me (in no particular order).  It’s far less scary once you have a little more information.

1. Flexibility

I’m not talking about physical flexibility, although you might find some in one of the many yoga class offerings on one of my retreats.  What I really mean here is schedule flexibility.  There’s a whole lot of opportunities to participate in group activities, outings, and fitness but you don’t have to participate if you don’t want to.  If you’re looking for a more introspective or independent type of trip, you may use all the time in the world to reflect, find peace, and meditate.  The schedule is often packed with opportunities to connect with fellow retreat guests but these times can most certainly also be used for…YOU!

2. Connection

Connecting to one another is one of the goals of my retreat.  I usually start the week or weekend off with a cocktail and charcuterie hour to get to know my guests and to help you get to know me and the others in the group.  We will come together for an ice-breaking activity as well as a quiet journal contemplation time.  I love when guests come solo, in an effort to meet new people.  I also love when guests come with someone they care about in an effort to build a deeper connection with each other.  Ultimately, I hope you will find connection with others but also a stronger, more lasting, gratifying connection with yourself.

3. Contemplation

As previously stated, connection with others and yourself is an underlying theme of my retreats.  I also encourage quiet contemplation.  Each morning we start with a quiet meditation coupled with relaxation techniques, pranayama, invigorating exercises, and journal activities.  Each evening we wind down in reflection of all the days activities and create space for a more peaceful deeper sleep.  These moments of contemplation will help create clarity, encourage gratitude, and leave you feeling peaceful.  Remember, all activities are optional so if you’d prefer your quiet contemplation in the hot tub, that’s okay too!

4. Movement

I am a huge fan of finding joy in movement.  Exercise and working out isn’t for everyone so I have designed a schedule that will allow you the opportunity to try new types of exercise without pressure.  We have yoga classes, cardio classes, outdoor hikes, and dance parties to give you every chance to energize your body and mind through movement.  Classes are typically 30 minutes to an hour and as with everything else, all optional!

5. Fun

The most important feature of my wellness retreats is FUN! It is my goal that EVERYONE has fun! So many of us get bogged down with the day to day that we forget to have fun and really find true joy in life.  It is my objective to create an experience that leaves you feeling contented and fulfilled.  It is also my hope you will leave saying “I haven’t laughed like that in a long time”.

I have been truly blessed by the experience of hosting wellness retreat for several years.  I have created and solidified many bonds with other incredible people.  I hope to share that experience with you.
